Every year the International Massage Association brings the world’s leading therapists to Copenhagen for three days of competition. I’m competing in two categories, Sports Massage and Freestyle Western, covering deep tissue, myofascial release and neuromuscular work, purely hands-on and fascia-led. It’s the work I do every week in the Berlin praxis, brought to a stage where the judges are themselves world-class therapists.
I’ll be representing Australia, my country of origin, while practising from the clinic I’ve built in Berlin over the past six years.
The point isn’t a trophy. It’s to place fascia and trigger-point work — the specialism that defines this practice — on an international platform alongside peers who push the discipline forward
